TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A man who was shot several times Wednesday, May 12, died from his injuries, police said.
Calls came in at 6:30 p.m., according to TPD officials, about a possible shooting. When officers arrived on scene they found a man and a woman with obvious gunshot wounds. TPD officers began first aid as Tucson fire crews arrived on scene. Both victims were transported to Banner University Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
According to TPD officials the man, 30-year-old Johnathan Slowley, died shortly after arriving at the hospital. The woman was treated and her injuries are no longer considered life-threatening.
TPD detectives have determined that Slowley was inside his apartment with the woman and several other unknown men when an altercation happened and Slowley was shot several times. The woman was shot once.
According to TPD detectives, this was not a random act of violence and that the suspects knew Slowley, but the investigation is ongoing.
The suspects fled the scene before police arrived.
Tucson police are asking anyone with information to call 88-CRIME.
The identity of the woman was not released.
