Stargazing from the Space Station

This image was snapped by a crew member on the International Space Station (ISS) in August of 2015. It shows the star-filled Milky Way shining bright above the Earth, along with flash of lightning happening back on our planet reflecting in the ISS solar array. The airglow is the faint light illumination of the Earth's atmosphere that keeps the night sky from ever going completely black.
