TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Arizona Wildcats rolled into the Collegiate Rugby Championship’s Knockout stage Saturday with three defensive wins in Pool play.

UA beat Army 20-0, Navy 17-0 and St. Joseph 14-5.

The combined 51-5 score was impressive but nothing compared to the Wildcats best ever showing in Pool play at the CRC.

UA’s 2011 Sevens squad outscored Texas, Oklahoma and Temple by a combined score of 85-0 in Pool play only to lose to Central Washington 14-5 in the Cup quarterfinals.

Arizona (3-0) is the 3rd seed in the Knockout stage and will face #6 Life (2-1) in the Cup quarterfinals on Sunday at 5:44 a.m. Tucson time.

The other six teams in the Cup quarterfinals include #1 UCLA (3-0) vs. #8 Penn State (2-1), #2 California (3-0) vs. #7 Arkansas State (2-1) and #4 Kutztown (3-0) taking on #5 Dartmouth (3-0).

The Golden Bears are the three-time defending champions at this event.

If Arizona wins their Quarterfinal match, the Wildcats will play at 8:50 a.m, in the Semifinals.

The Collegiate Rugby Championship match is scheduled for 10:39 MST.

Meanwhile, the Wildcats’ Women’s Rugby side struggled in their second appearance at the CRC. UA went 0-3 in Pool play suffering losses to Lindenwood (32-0), Ohio State (12-5) and Kutztown (24-0).

The UA Women will play two more matches on Sunday opening with the hometown Temple Owls at 11:20 a.m. Tucson time.
