Vu headed to Arizona United

TUCSON, Ariz. -- USL side Arizona United SC have announced the signing of former FC Tucson midfielder, Minh Vu.

Vu was off to a great start for the Men in Black, registering six goals and an assist in all competitions.

A local standout at Rincon/University High School and Pima Community college where he was named an All-American, Vu went on to play for Penn State University before playing in the USL with the Rochester Rhinos.

“Ultimately we’re here to move players on to the professional ranks,” head coach Rick Schantz said. “Minh is a perfect example of what FC Tucson is for - he’s a local player who has come up through the local youth system.”

Since joining FC Tucson for the summer, Minh has consistently been one of the top players in the PDL this season, which was apparent when he was named the number 21 prospect in the league.

“I was on a hot streak and wanted to continue it, but hopefully I can continue it with Arizona United,” Vu said.

When asked about what he’ll miss the most about FC Tucson, Vu had a hard time narrowing it down to anything in particular. “The guys, the staff, training, the facilities, everything.”

“FC Tucson’s going to win a national championship, and from heart I’m still going to be a part of it.”
