MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Memphis police have released new images of the suspects believed to have been involved in the robbery of an armored car.

A shootout ensued after a robber stole thousands of dollars from an armored car in a Walmart parking lot.

The robbery happened at the Walmart on East Shelby Drive around 1 p.m. Monday.

"Guy runs up to the armored guard, puts a gun to his head, tells him to drop it all," witness Gregory Nelson said.

After that, a sort of shootout took place, according to Nelson. He said the guard and the robber traded shots for a little while. He couldn't believe it.

"I didn't see Clint Eastwood or Denzel Washington, so it wasn't a movie set. It was real life," Nelson said.

Nelson said he saw the robber grab his leg as if he'd been shot. He then got in his car and drove off.

Police dispatchers said the robber got away with as much as $73,000 in cash and checks.

Memphis Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation shut down the parking lot for more than an hour to investigate and clean up all the shell casings.

Emma Elahdad arrived after the shootout. She went to Walmart to get her prescription, but she arrived to find crime scene tape instead.

"It bothers me that they would actually do this in business hours in daylight," Elahdad said. "So bold--I mean, so brave of them."

"People in the parking lot could have been murdered," Nelson said.

Nelson said there's one simple thing everyone in Memphis needs to start doing.

"Memphis, stop killing each other. Stop robbing; start loving each other," Nelson said.

Police have not released a description of the suspect or what type of car he drove off in.
