Barnes records another Top 10 finish

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Make it 230 career starts without a victory.

Ricky Barnes is arguably having one of his better seasons on the PGA Tour, just not in the winning fashion.

Barnes finished tied for fifth this weekend at the PGA’s RBC Canadian Open.

It’s his third Top 10 finish this season, the most since he carded six Top 10 placements in 2010, his 2nd full-time season on tour.

It’s the second tournament however this season that Barnes had a lead during the final round of an event but couldn’t finish it.

He led after three rounds of the Valero Texas Open back in April ultimately finishing 4th.

Barnes (UA ’03) birdied five of the first 13 holes on Sunday to take a one-shot advantage. But he would bogey #14 to give the lead back and could manage just par over the final four holes.

He finished at ten-under to take home $207,000.

Johnattan Vegas (-12) birdied the final three holes to win for the second time on the PGA Tour.

Jim Furyk (UA '96) finished at eight-under and in 13th place.
