CDO's Retz puts Saguaros one win away from title series

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Tucson Saguaros got a walk off RBI single from Canyon del Oro High School grad Ryan Retz (’09) in the bottom of the 13th inning Thursday night to beat the Roswell Invaders 8-7 and take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three Pecos League South Division Finals.

Wesley Parrish, the ninth pitcher used by Tucson, picked up the win with a scoreless top of the 13th, including two strikeouts. Roswell used 8 pitchers in the losing effort.

The Saguaros got two key home runs, a solo blast by Jesse Baker in the second and a three-run shot by Jimmy Heck in the sixth.

Tucson will go for the division title and an entry into the Pecos League finals with a win Friday night at Kino Memorial Stadium. First pitch is 7 p.m.

Should the Saguaros win, the Pecos League Championship series will start in Tucson on Tuesday. A Roswell series win would start the finals on Sunday in New Mexico.
