Pedestrian struck, killed on Interstate 10 at Congress Street

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Troopers are working to identify the pedestrian who was hit and killed on westbound Interstate 10 at Congress Street late Monday night. 

According to Quentin Mehr, public information officer for the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a trooper was waived down by a motorist around 10:38 p.m. and informed of a body in the road.

The trooper located the body, which was blocking two outside lanes of traffic. It appeared to have been hit by multiple vehicles. 

Three vehicles stayed at the scene and helped with the investigation. 

The Arizona Department of Transportation began tweeting about the crash around 11 p.m. 

I-10 at Congress was closed for several hours as crews worked to clear the scene. 

The investigation is still ongoing.

    The Mississippi Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who ran away from the scene of a deadly crash in George County. Three children were killed in the crash. Troopers said a green 2003 Kia Optima was heading east on Highway 198, east of Depot Road, shortly before 4 p.m. on Saturday.
