TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Ace Hardware store at 6959 East 22nd Street was named the "Coolest Hardware Store" for 2016 by the Ace Hardware Corporation.  This is an honor that few stores receive, according to a recent release the honor is given based on how each Ace store "differentiates its product offerings, services and culture to meet the needs of the community."

"We are very honored to be named a 'Coolest Hardware Store'," said Joe Findysz, owner of this "Cool" Ace Hardware store. "My family and staff have worked incredibly hard over the past 55 years serving the Tucson community with our unique product lines and superior customer service."

The 22nd Street store dates back to 1962, when Joe and Toni Findysz opened the first Ace Hardware located west of the Mississippi River. In 2016, the store is still operated by the Findysz family, this time with Joe and Kelly Findysz at the helm.

"One of the most exciting aspects of the Ace Hardware shopping experience is that with more than 4,800 retail locations across the globe, no two stores are the same," said Dan Miller, vice president of retail operations and new business, Ace Hardware Corporation.

It is a unique hardware store, covering 37,000 square feet, that includes a world-class fasteners department, a woodworking and custom cabinetry workshop, and even a hobby shop. There is a fully functioning kitchen that serves as a demonstration area for the latest in housewares products and gadgets. This "Cool" Ace Hardware even boasts a full-service small engine repair shop.

In the 7,000 square foot hobby portion of the store, customers are greeted by a custom-built train that serves as the register area, while the 10,000 square foot housewares department features locally made products including salsa, and even U of A themed pasta.

"From product selection, services, community involvement and the store's design, Ace owners can tailor every facet of their business to best meet the needs of their community. This unique formula has created some of the industry's best – and coolest stores – and we commend the Findysz family and the entire team at this incredible Ace Hardware in Tucson for delivering a one of a kind experience for their customers and community," said Miller.
