TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The soft lockdown at Rincon/University High School in Tucson was lifted at about 11 a.m.

The school was placed on a soft lockdown Thursday morning, Sept. 1, in response to police activity in the neighborhood. Two other schools, Bonillas and Peter Howell elementary schools, were under the same orders. All of the lockdowns have been lifted.

Det. Kris Goins, spokesman for the Tucson Police Department, said officers were looking for a possible burglary suspect in the area.

The located the suspect and "set up a containment," Goins said.

The school contacted police and asked if something was going on. The school was put on lockdown as a precaution at about 9:57 a.m.

A person seen with a weapon was a resident of the neighborhood.

The school was never threatened, according to Goins.

The Fire Chief Joseph De Wolf with Sonoita-Elgin Fire District said the rain was a relief but not a reason to relax, as fire season starts to heat up in southern Arizona. He said conditions are monitored daily because they could change just as quickly.
