Tucson police arrest suspect in Aug. homicide

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Tucson police have arrested a suspect in an August 18 homicide. 

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Steve Anaya was arrested on Thursday, Sept. 1 by officers from Operations Division South, after a traffic stop in the 2000 block of West Missouri.  According to TPD three people were inside the car, and one ran as soon as the car was stopped.  

The man was caught and identified as Anaya, he is in the Pima County Jail on unrelated charges, and a search warrant was obtained for the car and a handgun.

According to TPD officials ballistics was run on the gun the same day the warrant was issued, and results indicate that the gun inside the car was the same one that was used in a homicide.  

TPD Homicide detectives spoke with Anaya and he is now facing charges of first degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and armed robbery.
