SIERRA VISTA, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Two people and their two dogs were rescued from their vehicle after it became stuck in a wash near Sierra Vista on Wednesday, Sept. 7.

Tropical Storm Newton rolled through Southern Arizona Wednesday, bringing heavy rain that flooded washes and roadways.

The Cochise County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call around 1:30 p.m., according to a news release posted on CCSO's Facebook page.

The caller told deputies there were two people and two dogs trapped in a Nissan truck in the wash at Ramsey and Burro.

They said the truck was against a pole and was filling up with water.

The truck was not floating away, however, if the people were to get out of the truck they would not have been able to withstand the water pressure.

Fry Fire District crews responded along with CCSO deputies and were able to rescue the people and their dogs.
