Brendan Meyer and Hannah Cox Named to the USA Junior National Team

TUCSON, Ariz. – Freshmen Brendan Meyer and Hannah Cox were named to the 2016-17 USA Swimming National Junior Team, announced on September 8th.

Cox landed on the roster in the 400 free after finishing eighth in the event at the U.S. Olympic Trials (4:09.72). Her time is ranked 53rd in the world.

The newcomer earned two gold medals at the East Junior Nationals in December, breaking two New England records and a junior national record. Cox was victorious for the 500 free (4:37.82) to break the junior national record and the 200 free (1:44.67). The swimmer also took home bronze in the 200m free at 2015 FINA Junior World Championships with 1:59.28.

Meyer is a member of the National Junior Team in the 200 fly after an 18th-place finish at the U.S. Olympic Trials (1:59.18). His time is ranked 122nd in the world.  Meyer is the reigning Kentucky State Champion in the 500 free and placed third in the 100 back last season.
