UBER looking to hire 1,500 drivers in Tucson area

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

UBER announced Saturday it is looking to hire more drivers locally. The company made a commitment to hire 1,500 drivers by the end of the year. According to the company, demand for service has grown in areas north and south of Tucson.

UBER made the announcement at the Randolph Community Center. There were various groups represented at the meeting where Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild attended.

The company began service in Tucson three years ago. At that point UBER was handling a couple hundred trips per week. Currently there are thousands of trips a week.

To fill the need, UBER plans to be at local events and work with the community to get quality drivers.
