TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A University of Arizona football player has been released from the team after being arrested.

According to a news release from head coach Rich Rodriguez and Arizona Athletics, running back Orlando Bradford has been dismissed from the program as a result of the arrest.

According to Tucson Police Department spokesman Sgt. Pete Dugan, Bradford was arrested on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 14, on seven felony counts: three counts of domestic violence kidnapping and four counts of domestic violence aggravated assault.

Bradford was booked into the Pima County Jail and appeared before a judge Wednesday night.

The victim in this case asked the judge that Bradford not be released because she has an order of protection against him and she's afraid of what will happen if he's released.

Bradford's attorney told the judge that he has zero prior convictions and his mother has offered to house and transport Bradford to make sure he's supervised.

A secured bond was set at $20,000.

After court was over, a man in a U of A shirt claiming to be Bradford's best friend said the football player was not the same person being portrayed by the police report.

According to Dugan, police received a call at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday reporting the alleged incidents in the 2900 block of East Presidio Road, near North Country Club and East Fort Lowell roads.

Dugan said the victim had obvious signs of injury. After she told officers about her relationship with Bradford, they called TPD domestic violence detectives.

Police located Bradford at a residence in the 500 block of East Ninth Street, where he was taken into custody at about 2 p.m.

Bradford, a true sophomore, is from Shreveport, LA.
