Oklahoma took the lead in the 81st minute and didn’t look back as they defeated the Arizona Wildcats by a score of 2-1.
Kennedy Kieneker scored Arizona’s lone goal in the 30th minute off an assist by Jaden DeGracie-Bailey. The Sooners got goals from Rachel Ressler and Liz Keester.
“These were two evenly matched teams and the intensity was there from both teams,” head coach Tony Amato said. “It was going to come down to execution in the key moments of the game and they unfortunately capitalized in two key moments of the second half. We made a mistake on their first goal and then she had a great finish. There were key moments throughout the game and they executed while we came up short.”
The Wildcats are back in action next Friday, Sept. 23 as they head to the City of Angels to face USC at 3 p.m. MST. The match will be aired live on the Pac-12 Networks.
Oklahoma’s goal in the 55th minute was the first goal Arizona had given up since the 89th minute of the Texas Tech match back on Aug. 26.
Jaden DeGracie-Bailey now has 22 career assists, which is the most in school history.
