Border agents arrest convicted sex offender

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Border Patrol agents arrested a convicted sex offender near Topawa, AZ, on Sunday, Sept. 18.

According to a news release from US Customs and Border Protection, Milton Omar Perez, a Salvadoran national, was convicted of sexual assault against a child after he was arrested in Colorado Springs, CO, in 2006.

Agents learned of the conviction when they did a criminal history check after his arrest south of Sells on Sunday.

Perez now faces removal from the country, according to the release.
