The loss spoiled another sensational night for UA sophomore quarterback Brandon Dawkins.
He ran for 176 yards and two touchdowns in his third start since junior Anu Solomon went down with a knee injury.
Dawkins completed 19-of-31 passes for 167 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
The one touchdown came to Josh Kern with 17 seconds left in the fourth quarter to force the overtime period.
But there was more bad news, the Wildcats (2-2, 0-1) lost another running back. J.J. Taylor left the game in the third quarter with an ankle injury after gaining 97 yards on 19 carries.
