Three supermoons down, three to go in 2016, but the rest will be much more exciting. While the first three supermoons (March 9, April 7, May 6) were new moons, the last three supermoons (Oct 15, Nov 14, Dec 13) will be full moons.
The supermoon in November will even be the moon's closest approach to earth so far in the 21st century, and it won't come this close again until November 25, 2034.
A "supermoon" is when the moon is closest to earth in its orbit, making the full moon appear much larger than a typical full moon.
Here are the full-supermoon dates and times, according to earthsky.org
October 15 @ 9:23 p.m. MST
November 14 @ 6:52 a.m. MST
December 13 @ 5:05 p.m. MST
