PIMA COUNTY, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Northwest Fire crews have responded to a fire in the 3400 block of West Cantaloupe Drive, near West Orange Grove and North Thornydale Roads, according to Capt. Brian Keeley, an NWFD spokesman.

The fire began on the back porch of a double-wide mobile home.

Northwest Fire began receiving calls at 11:37 a.m., arrived on scene within five minutes and had the fire out in 13 minutes, Keeley wrote in a media release.

The entire back porch area was engulfed, and the fire did not spread inside the home, but minor smoke damage will prevent the homeowner from staying there Sunday night, Keeley said.

The Northwest Fire Community Assistance Team is helping. The homeowners were home when the fire broke out, and they safely evacuated before firefighters arrived, Keeley said.

Black smoke from the fire could be seen for miles around.

The fire's cause and financial loss are still to be determined.
