TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Tucson police are training a new group of people to help people during their darkest hour.

Six new 911 dispatchers will soon join the team.

They are in their second week of training and learning about the different codes and abbreviations used to talk with first responders.

Once their training is complete, police say they will be their lifeline in the field.

"It means a lot to me, it is a great feeling but it's also a lot of pressure that you have to really know your jobs, you have to really be on it and take those calls and respond immediately," said Marnel Camp, dispatcher in training.

Police say it takes a special type of person to do this job.
