(RNN) - Blue Bell and Blue Bunny ice cream have both announced a voluntary recall of products made with a cookie dough ingredient supplied by Aspen Hills, Inc., due to the potential for the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes.
Late Tuesday, Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream Company announced a recall of items made with the same Aspen Hills ingredient.
The move by Blue Bell is an expansion of a September recall on Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Blue Bell Cookie Two Step ice cream flavors.
Blue Bunny is recalling two lots of Blue Bunny Hoppin' Holidoodle ice cream because the items contain snickerdoodle cookie dough pieces recalled by Aspen Hills. Blue Bunny has not received reports of any illnesses, it said. The products were distributed in Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Arizona and Texas, the company said.

Blue Bell said in Monday's release that no illnesses have been reported. Blue Bell set the recall after Aspen Hills provided more information to the company on the cookie dough.
Chocolate Shoppe said that its products were distributed to ice cream shops, online outlets, and some grocery stores in several states, including Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.
In all, 4,183 three gallon cartons and 5,296 pints are affected by the Chocolate Shoppe recall. No illnesses have been reported, the company said.

Chocolate Shoppe is offering full credit for returned products.
Listeriosis is food poisoning caused by consuming foods with the listeria monocytogenes bacteria, WebMD says.
Listeriosis can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in children, the frail or elderly, and others with weakened immune systems, Blue Bell said.
Healthy people may suffer fevers, headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
The products under the Blue Bell recall were produced from Feb. 2 through Sept. 7. Blue Bell said the recall is being conducted in cooperation with the FDA.
Blue Bell said that Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Blue Bell Cookie Two Step flavors, sold in half gallons and pints, should be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund. Also under recall were three-gallon flavors sold to food service accounts, including Blue Bell Blue Monster, Blue Bell Chocolate Chip Cookie and Blue Bell Krazy Kookie Dough.
The ice cream flavors under recall were distributed in 10 states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
The action came after Aspen Hills issued a recall on the cookie dough ingredient included in the ice cream, Blue Bell said.
