Roadrunners rally again for 4th straight wiin

TUCSON, AZ -

The Tucson Roadrunners scored three times in the third period to come back and defeat the Stockton Heat 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at Tucson Arena.

Leading late in the second period 1-0, the Roadrunners (4-1) surrendered three consecutive goals in the final 2:31 of the frame including a shorthanded goal by Linden Vey with just .5 seconds left on the clock to find themselves down 3-1 after 40 minutes.

But as they did after trailing 3-0 early on Friday night, the Roadrunners worked their way back into the game starting with Ryan MacInnis’ goal at 1:58 from just in front of the Stockton net.  That was followed by a Michael Bunting power play marker at 14:56 to tie the game at 3-3.

On the ensuing shift, Bunting drew a delayed penalty after being hooked down to the ice.  Before Stockton (3-2-1) could touch the puck he sprang back up to his skates and kept the play alive until Christian Fisher scored on a one-timer from the high slot at 15:43 for the eventual game-winning goal.

Adin Hill secured the win with 28 saves for Tucson.

Up next the Texas Stars visit Tucson Arena on Wednesday at 7:05 pm.
