I'm Thomas Higgins...

Please tell your Congressperson to bring back the Fairness Doctrine. What's that you ask? For 60 years it kept broadcasters honest about political editorials. Since it was cut from the FCC rule book by right-wing politicians in 2011, radio and TV stations including KOLD have used their power to attack all things Democrat.

A few days ago, the manager of KOLD asked viewers to "Think About" his attack on President Obama and Hillary Clinton over who pays for campaign appearances. He offered no facts or evidence, just "questions." I called him on that and though he made changes, he is letting me say this: No one who works at KOLD, not Mr. Ulmer, his bosses at Raycom nor the weatherman have the right to push a one-sided political agenda. All viewpoints should be heard with equal volume and frequency.

I get it that TV station owners use their license to make huge private fortunes. But the airwaves are ours, not theirs. If they won't play fair politics, then Congress needs to get control over them once again.
