TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Salpointe Catholic beat Canyon del Oro for a second straight week to book a spot in the Division 4A state quarterfinals.

Mario Padilla scored on a 25-yard touchdown run on the Lancers first possession of the 3rd quarter to give Salpointe Catholic a 10-6 lead and they never relinquished it.

The drive was set up by a 32-yard kickoff return by freshman Bijan Robinson.

Two plays later Padilla busted off a 30-yard scamper to set up his winning score.

The Dorados (6-5) will head to the off-season wondering what might have been.

Canyon del Oro on their first drive of the second half attempted to go for a touchdown on a fourth and goal from the Lancers one-yard line, but the Dorados never got the play off as they were called for delay of game.

CDO settled for a 23-yard Ramon Borbon field goal and a short-lived 6-3 lead.

The Dorados drove to the Salpointe Catholic red zone on their next possession but quarterback Garrett Woodlock was sacked on a 4th-and-five play by Lancers Cameron Tober and Anthony Madril to snuff out the drive.

The 4th seed Lancers (9-2) will host #5 seed Tempe Marcos de Niza on Thursday.  The Padres beat Buckeye Union Friday night 41-36.
