OVERTIME: Catalina Foothills falls to Saguaro in 4A title game

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - It was deja vu for Catalina Foothills Saturday morning in the Division 4A state champion game.

The Falcons lost 42-14 to Saguaro in the title game at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.

Saguaro (14-0), which clinched its ninth state title in 11 years, cruised to a 35-0 halftime lead.

It was Catalina Foothills' (11-3) second loss to Saguaro this season. The Sabercats routed the Falcons 35-0 earlier this season.

Saguaro, the second-ranked team in Arizona according to MaxPreps.com, was perfect in the first half. The Sabercats scored five touchdowns on five possessions and the defense held Catalina Foothills to 166 yards.

Saguaro scored again on its first possession of the second half for a 42-0 lead.

Falcons quarterback Rhett Rodriguez ended the shutout bid early in the fourth quarter when he scored on a 4-yard run. Rodriguez added a 1-yard sneak late in game to make it 42-14.

It was the Falcons' first title game appearance.
