TUCSON, AZ -

Laurent Dauphin netted a shorthanded marker and Dakota Mermis scored his first goal of the year to help the Roadrunners erase a two-goal deficit and claim an overtime point against the Ontario Reign on Wednesday night at Tucson Arena.

Trailing 2-0 in the third period, the Roadrunners came to life on Dauphin’s shorthanded goal at 5:46 of the third when he stripped a Reign defender at center and walked in on goaltender Jack Campbell (35 saves) beating him over the right pad to cut the lead in half.

Then with 4:42 left in the third period, Tucson tied the game when Dakota Mermis tapped home the rebound of a Ryan MacInnis shot that rattled off the goal post for his first goal of the season.

In overtime, the Roadrunners had a few solid scoring chances but Teddy Purcell scored the game-winning goal on a breakaway at 2:18 after a turnover by the Reign blueline for a 3-2 final.
