Jackson arrives to spark Sunnyside

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - There's a new kid on the block at Sunnyside.

Junior transfer Nikc Jackson (and yes that is with a KC) scored 23 points and grabbed 18 rebounds Friday night as the Blue Devils beat Phoenix Mountaine Pointe 76-70 in Tucson.

Jackson arrived to Southern Arizona this past summer. He played at Cedar Spring, Michigan last season which is just north of Grand Rapids.

He's averaging 18 points and nine rebounds for the Blue Devils (7-5), who won for the fourth straight game.

Mikey Silva led Sunnyside with 30 points. It was his fourth 30-point game of the season and second in a row.

One noticeable absence for the Blue Devils this season has been center Santino Duarte. The senior sat on the bench in street clothes and has yet to play this season for new head coach Jimmy Rosthenhausler.

The good news is he's expected back in the lineup next week and his return to go along with the newly arrived Jackson could give Sunnyside the best three-man tandem in Southern Arizona.

Rosthenhausler replaced Rob Harrison who left after last season's 23-6 campaign for a high school coaching job in Aurora, Colorado.
