TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Salpointe Catholic boys basketball team will look for a sixth straight win when they host Scottsdale Saguaro on Friday night.

The Lancers (8-2) enter off a huge buzzer-beating 68-65 win over Cienega and have beaten Flowing Wells, Chandler Seton Catholic, Mountain View and Tucson High during their winning stretch.

Senior Isaac Cruz nailed that game-winner against the Bobcats. He runs the show for sixth-year coach Brian Holstrom.

Salpointe Catholic also features sophomore big man Majok Deng who already has offers from eight schools including Arizona State and Utah out of the Pac-12 and Vanderbilt in the SEC.

The Sabercats (7-2) had won six in a row before falling Tuesday night to Higley 62-55.

Saguaro is led by senior guard Jake Lieppert who is averaging 25 points and seven rebounds a game and junior forward Jared Martin who puts up a line of 22 points, nine rebounds and seven assists per game.

Both teams are in the 4A Conference.
