TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Tuesday night was the first Tucson Unified School District governing board meeting since Dr. H.T. Sanchez resigned as superintendent, and one of the agenda items was a vote on interim superintendent.

However, item 10, appointment of interim superintendent, will not be voted on this evening.

TUSD Board member, Michael Hicks stated that the board has worked together actively and collectively to narrow down a list of potential interim candidates.

Right now, Deputy Superintendent Dr. Karen Kopec is acting superintendent. Last week, TUSD spokesperson Stefanie Boe said there was a mixup and she wasn't officially voted or named interim.
