Project Ina delaying more drivers, this time on Cortaro Road

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

On Tuesday, construction crews will be re-striping east and westbound lanes along Cortaro Road between Arizona Pavilions and Interstate 10.

According to a Town of Marana news release, the work will improve traffic flow and reduce congestion.

The first part of the project will be the re-striping of the eastbound lanes.

Crews will then move on to expand the westbound left turn lane from Cortaro Road to Arizona Pavilions Drive from one to two lanes.

Crews have already changed the timing of the traffic lights to move drivers along quicker through this area.

Drivers should expect some lane restrictions and additional congestion.

The work is expected to be completed by 5 p.m.

The four-mile stretch from mile marker 209 to 213 will be extended to three lanes in each direction, creating more room on the freeway for drivers like Lisa McCombs. “That would be fantastic, she said. “Traffic gets pretty bad through here especially on the weekends.”
