Aztecs men’s basketball will open NJCAA Tournament vs. Waubansee (IL)

TUCSON, AZ -

The Pima Community College men’s basketball team will open play in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament on Tuesday, Mar. 21.

The Aztecs (21-11) will be the No. 8 seed and will play Waubansee Community College (IL) on Tuesday, Mar. 21 at 9:00 a.m. (CDT). The winner of the game could potentially faceoff with No. 1 seeded Southwestern Community College (IA) in the next round. 

The Aztecs defeated Phoenix College 102-99 on Saturday to win the Region I, Division II/District A title. It was the program’s first championship since 2010.

The Chiefs were the Region 4B, District IV champions and are 25-8 overall. They have won eight of their last nine games.

The Aztecs will hold a net-cutting ceremony at the West Campus gym on Friday that will be open to the public. Details are TBA.
