Final score UA 100 North Dakota 82

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The University of Arizona Wildcats win 100-82 over the North Dakota Fighting Hawks in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Lauri Markkanen and Rawle Alkins both scored 20 points in the game, and Allonzo Trier was not far behind with 18 points. 

The Wildcats shot 58 percent from the field in scoring a season-high 100 points. The 53 first half points for Arizona were the most this season.

Quinton Hooker led the Fighting Hawks (22-10) with 25 points. North Dakota was making their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

UA (31-4) will play St. Mary's (29-4) in the second round. The Gaels knocked of Virginia Commonwealth 85-77.

Arizona-Saint Mary's will tip off at about 4:45 p.m. Tucson time on Saturday.

    Dozens came from as far as Flagstaff to Nogales in honor of the thousands of children waiting to be reunited with their parents. They may have been a small group, but they had a big message. "We want to make sure that those kids still get back to their families," said Christie Black, who traveled from Mesa for the vigil. Black and Julie Jorgenson never met in person until Saturday.
