Condors shut out Roadrunners 4-0

TUCSON, AZ -

Jonas Gustafsson stopped all 27 shots faced from the Tucson Roadrunners as the Bakersfield Condors won 4-0 on Friday night.

At 3:37 of the first period Christian Fischer was awarded a penalty shot after being hauled down on a breakaway chance but could not convert, missing on the backhand to keep the game scoreless.

At 6:11 of the first period, Patrick Russell would score what turned out to be the game-winning goal on a wraparound effort.

From there the Condors added two goals in the second period and an empty net goal in the third for the 4-0 final.

The same two teams go back at it on Saturday night for Cancer Awareness Night presented by Fox 11 Tucson, my92.9 and the University of Arizona Cancer Center.  The Roadrunners will wear lavender jerseys to be auctioned off following the game with all proceeds going to the U of A Cancer Center.  

Notes:

  • Fischer’s penalty shot was the second in team history.  Chris Mueller was awarded the first back on February 3 vs Charlotte (unsuccessful).
  • Adin Hill took the loss with 17 saves on 20 shots against in 28:58 of work.
  • Tomorrow night’s game is the last meeting of the season series between the two teams.  Tucson is 4-2-1 in the seven contests thus far.
  • Both teams failed on three power play attempts
