Convicted sex offender arrested near Sells

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A Mexican man, a convicted sex offender, was arrested last week after sneaking back into the U.S., federal authorities said.

Border Patrol said Aaron Sarmiento-Sanchez, 35, was arrested Friday, March 17, near Sells.

"During processing, (we) found he was arrested on June 7, 2006, by the Salinas County Sheriff’s Office on two counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age."

Border Patrol said Sarmiento-Sanchez was sentenced to prison and served time before being released and deported in April 2013.

Sarmiento-Sanchez is now facing a charge of criminal illegal re-entry into the U.S.
