NJCAA: Pima men reach Elite 8

TUCSON, AZ -

The Pima Community College men’s basketball team advanced to the Elite 8 of the NJCAA Division II Tournament on Tuesday as the Aztecs led from start to finish in 93-84 win over Waubansee Community College (IL).

Sophomore Deion James (Empire HS) finished with a game-high 31 points as he went 13-for-13 from the free throw line. 

Jacob Anastasi scored 18 points while Emilio Acedo (Salpointe Catholic HS) contributed with 14 points as he hit four 3-pointers. 

The Aztecs made their final 21-of-22 free throws and finished the game 35-for-41 from the line.

PCC (22-11) will play No. 1 seed Southwestern Community College (IA) as they beat Southern Maryland 94-69. 

The game will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Tucson time.
