Driver facing DUI charge, bicyclist seriously hurt following crash on south side

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A man is fighting for his life and a person is facing serious charges after a bicyclist was hit on the south side of Tucson Saturday night, authorities said.

Sgt. Pete Dugan, spokesman for the Tucson Police Department, said the man was hit while riding on 6th Avenue near Aviation Drive around 7:45 p.m. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Dugan said the driver of the vehicle, who stayed at the scene, is facing a DUI charge.

6th Avenue, from Michigan to Aviation, was closed for several hours.
