The Tucson Jewish Community Center was placed on a soft lockdown for a short time Wednesday afternoon as authorities searched the area for a burglary suspect.

The facility was given the all-clear around 2:50 p.m. A KOLD News 13 viewer said the lockdown lasted at least 30 minutes.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department confirmed it was in the area looking for a suspect.

Cody Gress, spokesman for the PCSD, said a man was spotted in the backyard of a home in the 4300 block of East Desert Oak, which is near River and Pontatoc.

Gress said the homeowner thought the suspect was doing yard or pool work, but he tried to break into the home.

The woman was able to get out of the home unharmed and called 911, according to Gress.

The Tucson JCC said they've were asked to keep members and guests inside of the building by the PCSD.
