AZ Reps accepting entries for 2017 Congressional Art Competition

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

It's that time of year, Arizona Representatives Martha McSally (2nd Congressional District) and Raul Grijalva (3rd Congressional District) are now accepting entries for the 2017 Congressional Art Competition. 

The yearly competition is open to high school students, grades 9-12 that live in the 2nd and 3rd districts. The winners will have the chance to visit Washington D.C. and have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for the year.  

Submissions for the 2nd District, will be accepted from now to 5 p.m. Monday, May 1 at 4400 East Broadway Boulevard, Suite 510 or the Sierra Vista district office at 77 Calle Portal, Suite B-160.  

Submissions from the 3rd District, will be accepted from now to 5 p.m. Monday, May 8 at 101 W. Irvington Road, Building 4. Entries may also be sent via mail, or a scanned copy of original artwork saved as a PDF, PNG, or JPEG format. Thursday, June 29, the winners in both districts and their guardian will be flown to Washington, D.C. for the official ribbon cutting ceremony.

The two runners-up in the 2nd District will have their art displayed in Rep. McSally’s Tucson and Sierra Vista district offices. Submissions will also be posted on Rep. McSally’s Facebook page, and the artwork that receives the most votes by Southern Arizonans online will receive an award and hang in Rep. McSally’s Congressional office in Washington, D.C.

The winner for the 3rd District will be announced on Tuesday, May 9 by Rep. Grijalva at a reception at the El Pueblo Neighborhood Center.
