TUCSON, AZ - The Arizona Wildcats again flexed their offensive muscles in the series finale against Oregon, pounding out 23 hits and beating the Ducks 18-4 in front of 3,372 fans at Hi Corbett Field to claim the series win Saturday.
Arizona (26-9, 9-6 Pac-12) had seven players register multiple-hit games, led by sophomore designated hitter Alfonso Rivas, who went 5 for 5 with two RBI and four runs scored.
JJ Matijevic went 4 for 5 with two RBI and three runs scored. Rivas upped his season average to .415, while Matijevic saw his rise to .418, which leads the Pac-12 Conference.
Junior left-hander Rio Gomez (4-3) picked up the victory. He went 6 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on nine hits, while striking out three and walking just one.
Tylor Megill, who entered for Gomez in the seventh, pitched a scoreless eighth, and Robby Medel came onto pitch a 1-2-3 ninth inning to lock down the win.
The Cats are now 19-1 at home this season
UA will have a chance to build on that starting Thursday when they host Utah for a three-game series.
