TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Former Tucson fire Capt. David Watson is expected to be in Pima County Superior Court on Monday, April 17.

His defense team has filed a motion for a new trial. Judge Deborah Bernini is expected to hear and possibly rule on that motion at 9:30 a.m.

The defense is expected to argue that the evidence did not support conviction in his second murder trial. They’ll also argue that there was misconduct by the prosecutors and that Watson was not given a fair and impartial trial.

If the judge denies that motion, sentencing is expected to happen at 10 a.m.

Watson was found guilty a month ago of killing three women. The first trial ended in a hung jury.
