Abdirahman defies odds and age in Boston

BOSTON, MA -

Arizona alumnus and four-time Olympian Abdi Abdirahman ran in the 121st Boston Marathon this morning and finished in sixth place overall with a time of 2:12.45. The former Wildcat was also the third-fastest American male in the 26-mile race.
 
At the age of 40, Abdirahman is the oldest runner to finish in the top 10 in either the men's and women's races. Kenya's Geoffrey Kirui took first place with a time of 2:09.37.
 
Most recently, Abdirahman took third place at the New York City Marathon and was the fastest American man in the race.
