TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Four people were taken into custody after an incident that involved multiple law enforcement agencies on Wednesday, April 19.

According to Sgt. Kim Bay of the Tucson Police Department, it began on Tucson's south side when a TPD officer tried to stop a vehicle that had suspicious plates.

The driver did not stop right away, but eventually did, and police took him into custody.

Another person in the car drove away and police followed the car north along Tucson's west side. The driver and two passengers ditched the car in a cul-de-sac in the Picture Rocks area and fled into the desert.

TPD alerted the Pima County Sheriff's Department, Border Patrol and the Marana Police Department and those agencies responded to assist.

The identities of those detained and what, if any, charges they will face was not immediately available.
