ORO VALLEY, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The battle of Top 15 softball teams in Conference 3A never materialized Thursday night at the base of the Catalina Mountains in Oro Valley.

#14 Sabino dominated #12 Pusch Ridge Christian Academy 10-0 in a five-inning run rule affair to clinch the South region championship.

Elizabeth Lyon went all the way in the circle for the Sabercats (15-8, 10-2) limiting the Lions to just four hits while striking out three.

Sydney Gray and Danielle Kirchhofer each had three hits. Gray had a pair of triples and two runs batted in.

Cassandra Casteneda went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs.

Sabino holds first place in the Conference 3A South while PCRA (17-8, 6-3) is in a battle for second place with Empire and Sahuarita.
