Biosphere 2 hosting Earth Day celebration, concert

ORACLE, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The University of Arizona is inviting the community to celebrate Earth Day and the 10th anniversary of UA research at Biosphere 2.

40 vendors will be out on the lawn with demonstrations of their latest in green, eco-friendly technology.

In addition to regular tours and Saturday activities, the family-friendly event will include lectures and panel discussions on the future of the earth, energy, water and food; beach and rainforest tours; a ladybug release; and groundbreaking for a vertical farm complex.

At 4:30 organizers are holding a concert by Calexico.

VIP tickets for the all-day special event and the Calexico concert are $32 each and include a Biosphere 2 annual pass.

General admission is $24. They are offering teacher and student discount tickets at $15. Tickets for kids 6-10 years old cost $10.

It starts at 9:30 a.m. and goes until around 6:30 Saturday night, April 22.
