Soetaert out as Tucson Roadrunners GM

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

After less than a year, Doug Soetaert is out as the Tucson Roadrunners' general manager.

Arizona Coyotes GM John Chayka made the announcement on Thursday, April 27.

Chayka said Coyotes assistant coach Newell Brown and pro scouts David MacLean and Jim Roque are also out.

"I'd like to thank Newell, Doug, David and Jim for their contributions to the club," Chayka said. "They are all good people but we believe these changes are necessary in order to improve our organization. We wish them the best in the future."

Soetaert was named the Roadrunners GM in July 2016.

The Roadrunners went 29-31-8-0 in their inaugural season and finished sixth in the AHL's Pacific Division.

Soetaert, a goalie, played for the New York Rangers, Winnipeg Jets and Montreal Canadiens during his 12-year career.
