Arizona dropped its second straight one-run game to Stanford on Friday, falling to the Cardinal 4-3 in front of 2,327 fans at Sunken Diamond.
It was the Wildcats fifth straight loss in Pac-12 Conference play.
The Cardinal (26-12, 10-7) broke a 3-3 tie in the seventh inning when Matt Winaker blooped a single to left field on a checked swing off Rio Gomez (4-5) to put a man on base with two outs.
The next batter, shortstop Nico Hoerner, singled to left field and the ball got past left fielder Alfonso Rivas, trickling all the way to the wall. Winaker was able to come all the way around from first base to score the eventual winning run.
JJ Matijevic collected his 45th RBI of the season in the game to lead the Pac-12. Starter JC Cloney went 6 1/3 innings, giving up three runs on five hits, while striking out a season-high eight.
Arizona (27-14, 9-11) will look to salvage a game against the Cardinal on Saturday. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
