Power outage on Tucson's NW side affects TEP, Trico customers

MARANA, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Customers of Tucson Electric Power, Trico Electric Cooperative and even possibly Tucson Water were affected by an outage on Tucson's northwest side on Friday, Dec. 29.

According to the Trico website, the outage was at the Thornydale substation in Marana. The outage affected 4,700 customers. About 2,000 TEP customers were without power, according to the TEP outage map.

A tweet from Tucson Water said the outage might affect water customers.

The outage was expected to be fixed by 11:30 a.m., according to TEP.

    The Tucson Police Department said an arrest warrant has been issued for Sean Michael Yacks, 30, in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash on the east side.

    The Tucson Police Department is reporting the suspect in the robbery of the Bank of America at 7977 East Tanque Verde Road has been identified as 50-year-old Vahalla Daniel Volundsson and is in custody.
