A riot at an Eloy prison is secure now, officials said.
At approximately 8:35 a.m. on Sunday, an inmate-on-inmate disturbance occurred at the Red Rock Correctional Center, according to Jonathan Burns, director of public affairs for CoreCivic.
Burns said 12 inmates were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. One CoreCivic staff member was treated and released from a local hospital for minor injuries, Burns said.
Burns said all inmates and staff are accounted for and the facility has been secured.
Burns said CoreCivic is cooperating fully with an investigation being conducted by its government partner at the Arizona Department of Corrections.
