SAN TAN VALLEY, AZ (Tucson News Now) - At Combs Traditional Academy, fifth grade students in Mrs. Allen and Ms. Snyder's class have been working on projects for the SciTech Festival.

Students were given real world problems such as endangered and threatened animals, extreme wildfires, energy conservation, homelessness, and environmental change. Students were then asked to use either Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, or Math (STEAM) to show a solution to the real world problem (already invented, or a model of something they think would help). A selection of these solutions were exhibited at the District SciTech festival on Feb. 16.

All students were encouraged to not only participate but learn from each other's work. The students were observed collaborating as they worked towards a common goal. Students showed perseverance as they problem solved and our teachers, staff, and families couldn't be more proud of them.
